Boating: Colorado Day 3

On Saturday morning, we got up and around early.
We'd rented a boat for a couple hours, so we headed to the marina.

We had a great time exploring the lake by boat. Uncle Bobby was our driver,
and we enjoyed looking at all the beautiful homes along the shores.

It took Barrett a little while to warm up to the boating idea.
Last summer in Branson was the last time he'd been on a boat. He had a good time watching daddy fish.
He got to "drive" the boat, and of course played with his cars. This kid will play cars ANYWHERE!

{ultra sun protection...and lookin' cool}

This bird swooped down right beside our boat and got him some lunch :)

After our time on the boat, we headed back to the cabin for lunch. Barrett fell asleep on the couch with Papa. Justin and Brandon went to do some more fishing. Jenn, Mom and I went downtown to shop! We walked up and down both sides of The Village shops, visiting almost every single one! I got a few gifts for friends. Mom got Barrett a little stuffed moose. We were hoping to find him a Grand Lake, Co shirt, but didn't have luck with his size.

Barrett was still snoozin' when we got home from shopping, so I went out to get a few pictures.

{the back deck}

The deck is where we spent all of our mornings.
My favorite thing was snuggling up in one of the lounge chairs with a blanket and hot drink.
We'd watch for wildlife, and enjoy the cool air. Barrett played a lot of cars on that deck :)

On their way home from fishing, Justin and Brandon spotted this fox across the road from our cabin. They came home to get Jenn and I, and we all headed down to see it. It didn't seem too concerned with us walking up on it. I had my 300mm zoom in these pictures, so we really weren't too close.

{fox is below...then you can see the little gopher he was after in the next picture}

Another view of our cabin
After reading my Colorado posts, Justin informed me I had a typo...I said "six bedrooms and four bathrooms"
I was four bedrooms and six bathrooms :)

We finished cashing wildlife, Barrett finally woke up, and we headed downtown for the evening.

{waiting for our table at the restaurant}

After dinner, we walked down along the boardwalk by the lake again...
and took lots of pictures.
{THIS is what happens when you give the camera to my little brother}

We ended the night with ICE CREAM :)
Barrett wanted "green" and he was a happy boy!

Our last day at Grand Lake (traveling through The Rocky Mountain National Park) coming tomorrow!

Exploring Grand Lake: Colorado Day 2

We woke up bright and early on Friday, for our first full day of vacation in Colorado. Jenn made a yummy french toast casserole for breakfast, and then we got around for the day. While I enjoyed a long shower in my suite, Justin had his first wildlife sighting at the cabin. (We also saw some deer and mountain goats in the mountains on the way there Thursday). Three mule deer. We also saw a fox on the hill across the road from our cabin. EVERY morning after this happened, Barrett would say "me see THREE deer...me see fox."

Since we'd gotten to the cabin late the night before, this was the first time we got to see what the outside really looked like. Beautiful. I LOVED the garage doors. As soon as I saw them, I had high hopes for a fun family picture in front of them...didn't happen :)

We headed into the Grand Lake Village to explore the town and lake...

The weather was AMAZING...it felt so good to have the warmth of the sun on you, but NOT be hot, and humid! It was perfect, but that water was freezing cold. I have no idea how all those little kids were playing out in it! Mom, Jenn, Barrett and I dipped our feet in.

We toured this museum...The home of Ezra Kauffman. He built the log house and ran it as a hotel. I'm always fascinated by museums. Seeing things set up just as they were so many decades ago. I'm not so sure the guys enjoyed it as much!

After our first tour of the downtown/village, we headed home to make lunch,
and then out to find a fishing spot!

We found this spot first. A canal along the neighborhood our cabin was in. It was pretty...but just not quite what we had in mind for Colorado-style fishing. Hmmm....

They guys fished there for a bit, and then we continued our search.
Checking out a few other places before we found it!!!

EUREKA!! This spot on the Colorado River. Also very close to our cabin.
Exactly what I'd pictured in my mind :)

Barrett fishing for the first time...

I think we wore him out...
So we headed back to the cabin to rest for a bit and get ready for our first night in The Village.

Barrett enjoyed a bath in the BIG tub.

After his bath, I took some 2-1/2 year pictures of my little man!
I plan to post those soon with his 2-1/2 year "letter."

We had Mexican that night at Pancho & Lefty's. Yummy Margaritas!

After dinner, we headed down by the lake. They happened to be having the Buffalo BBQ Festival! Live Music, Food and drinks. It was pretty loud, and Barrett wasn't too sure about it. He kept saying "It over...me ready go home."

Brandon and Jenn bought us all drinks.
Yummy Sangria for the ladies!!

That was the end of Day two!

More pictures tomorrow...Day three: Boating
